Travel & Staying Over

The Venue

Rochdale Town Hall
The Esplanade
Rochdale
OL16 1AZ

Rochdale Town Hall is a Grade I listed Victorian building in the heart of Rochdale town centre. Entrance for the wedding will be via the main front entrance on The Esplanade.

The ceremony and drinks reception will take place downstairs in The Exchange. We will move upstairs to the Great Hall for the wedding breakfast and evening reception.

Getting There

By Car

Rochdale is easily accessible from the M62. Leave at junction 20 and follow signs for Rochdale town centre. The Town Hall is located on The Esplanade, a short drive from the motorway.

If you're coming from Manchester, the A664 takes you directly into Rochdale town centre.

By Train

Rochdale railway station is served by Northern Rail with direct services from Manchester Victoria (approx. 20 minutes) and Leeds (approx. 75 minutes). The Town Hall is around a 10–15 minute walk from the station, or a short taxi ride.

If you have a ticket from a Manchester station, you can take the tram for free to Rochdale town centre. This tram stop is less than 5 minutes away.

By Taxi

Uber is very active in Rochdale and Manchester, so you should have no issues getting hold of one. If you prefer to book a local taxi firm, we suggest Globe Taxis. You can call them on 01706 355553. We recommend getting Ubers and taxis to drop you off by the Gracie Fields statue outside the venue.

Parking

Parking at Rochdale Town Hall is very limited and can be expensive, so we suggest leaving these spaces available for guests with accessibility needs where possible.

Our recommendation:

Rochdale Riverside Car Park
Baillie St, Rochdale OL16 1XU
~5 minute walk to the venue
Electric car charging points available here

We'd recommend checking parking charges in advance. If you plan to drink, consider leaving the car and making use of the train or an Uber.

Staying Over

There are a few hotel options in and around Rochdale, as well as easy access from Manchester city centre if you'd prefer to stay there.

Our recommendation:

The Hampton by Hilton Rochdale

New Baillie St
Rochdale OL16 1EUM

· 5 minute walk from venue ·

We have secured a limited amount of rooms for our guests at a preferential rate of £84/night. To take advantage of that rate, please click here or on the button below.

This is opposite the Riverside Car Park and they offer a discounted rate to park there.

£84/night - discount rate

An alternative:

The Royal Toby

Manchester Rd
Rochdale OL11 3HF

· 10 minute drive from venue ·

The Royal Toby is a 3-star hotel located just out of the town centre. It has ample on site parking but would require a short drive or taxi/Uber to and from the venue. You would expect to pay roughly £100/night

Other local options:

  • Rochdale Travelodge (10 minute drive. Located just off the M62 motorway in a retail park.)
  • Village Hotel Bury (25 minute drive. A little further away but a 3-star hotel with more amenities including gym and pool. Located just off the M66 motorway.)

In Manchester

Manchester city centre is around 20 minutes by train and has a wide range of hotels to suit all budgets. Getting the late train or a taxi/Uber back after the evening reception is straightforward. The last train leaves just after midnight.

We recommend booking early as August is a busy period. While Rochdale should have plenty of hotel rooms, Manchester may book up quickly.
